More voices want the Minister of Education to be fired.
There has been lot of bad publicity surrounding the Department of Basic Education under the administration of Minister Angie Motshekga. Several organisations including the ANC Youth league have come forward expressing their anger that Angie Motshekga should be released from her duties.Hence Education is part our countries top 5 priorities that means government should be very serious about it.According to me President Jacob Zuma is letting us (the nation) down by not releasing the Minister of Education from her duties when it's clear that she is not unfit to handle her post because it's believed that she is canvassing for Zuma's Second Term in Mangaung, this is where the president needs to be a loyal leader by isolating personal issues from the duties. On the other hand the Spokesperson of the Department of Basic Education Mr Panyaza Lesufi is busy spin doctoring the Minister when the image Department of Basic Education continues to sink at the end Limpopo learners will fail.
I say that as a nation we need a new broom (Minister) to sweep away and clean Angie Motshekga's mistakes because we can't rely on the same person to head the Department of Basic Education even next year .How can the learners be motivated to study hard when the same government that is encouraging people to study fails to provide sufficient learning resources? How can the educators accomplished their work when they do not have enough resources to better the Grade 12's annual results?
Surely indeed we truly need a new broom to with fresh innovative ideas that will erase the current bad image and publicity of hanging around the sinking Department of Basic Education.

Firing the education minister will not rectify faulty acquisition and intervention powers, although the minister must bear some responsibility for this situation and certainly she will bear the main political consequences, the whole mess is too complex to be solved by removing the minister...I think she should remain as the minister, she deserves the second chance, end of story
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know Angiw was the MEC of EDucation in Gauteng meaning that she has experience and knowledge of handling her department, but she failed to kkep up her perfomance thet made the president to promote her.We certainly need new broom.
Deletethose who are responsible in assuring that schools have to get textbooks are the ones to be blamed for this whole mess
ReplyDeleteI think that the minister of education should be released from her position it was her job to make sure that all the schools had text books and she failed. Let her go Mr President.
ReplyDeleteI wish to differ with firing Angie Motshekga because first of all she is the boss lady who make orders but not a deliver, secondly the next person who will step in as the minister will face the same problem if there is still the group of people within the department of education who can work together as a team.If they failed Angie then this means they will also fail the next person. Please remember that Motshekga can not do this job all by herself.
ReplyDeletewho ca not work tegether as a team
DeleteWell I would suggest that if someone takes over the department they shold also bring new staff and deploy the current on e to other positions that they will handle better than the Education deopartment.
DeleteAngie is to blame for the whole situatuion because she has to make sure that each school's needs a met.
ReplyDeleteWe should understand that the minister of education is just a policy maker and she did her job by actually signing off for the books to be deliverd at the relevent schools. She shouldnt be blamed for somebodies incompetencies.
ReplyDeleteam sure shwe should have done a follow up since the Limpo education department was under national administration.

ReplyDeletei put the blame on Angie for the reason why limpopo learners not yet received text books, this shows that she is not doing her job properly..she must also lose her job bcos she is not competent enough to do her duties
ReplyDeletei cant put the blame on angie alone, but also to the departments' administration board. angie is just the leader/the front door of this department.what about districts administrators? provincial administrators? the truth is;we cant blame the national alone
ReplyDeleteI just think the problem lies at management level, not teachers or distributers! Something serious should be done at the top
ReplyDeletewe need to remember that angie is not a depatment of education by her self.. she has a team...and a team should work together... if our project as a team did not go as planned then the whole team is to be blamed not the director or the project manager... firing her wont erase the situation
ReplyDeleteWell I would suggest that if someone takes over the department they shold also bring new staff and deploy the current on e to other positions that they will handle better than the Education deopartment.
Deletei think firing the minster was a good idea and let it be a lesson to others
ReplyDeletethe sa thing about this is that when the books arrived th first time, they were vandalized. someone should do something!
ReplyDeleteAm sure the law will deal with the ones who have been arrested with the textbook dumping issue.
Deletei support Pebetse's comment, i mean really Angie can not go to every high school everyday to see that textbooks are delivered and not dumped at the streets. but where is her team that she is working with and their support?
ReplyDeleteHer tean needs to be rotated to other department where they can manage and not repeat the same mistakes they did.
DeleteThe provincial department must take responsibility it was not angy's duty to load the textbooks in trucks and drive the truck to deliver, moreover it was not her duty do order limpopo delivery drivrs to deliver because she had played her partby availing the textbooks in tha province, the head of education department must answer for it not the minister.
ReplyDeleteThe provincila department cant do that because the Limpopo province went under the national administration meaning that they did not have much power to make final decision therfore Angie I believe ws the one who made the final calls.
DeleteIt is very crucial for the Department or Government to employ, people who are determined to run the Country with a positive attitude and a vision of seeing learners recieve quality education. Our country needs leaders with leadership qualities, and frankly, Government is employing the wrong candidates.
